Hello, we are Peckham Settlement...

The Peckham Settlement is a dynamic, multi-purpose community organisation. Located in the heart of South London, we deliver a wide range of services and activities both in our local neighbourhoods and beyond. We are focused on developing highly innovative solutions to the changing needs of the communities we serve and are committed to striving for excellence in all we do.

We work with all sections of the community – running a community nursery, children’s centre and family activities, youth work and vocational education for young people, adult learning, employment and volunteering support, and working with older people, and are always looking for ways we can bring people from different parts of the community together.

Our community development work includes projects such as the HOurBank – a local timebank encouraging people to share skills with each other for mutual benefit and projects focused on specific groups of people such as our work with the Irish traveller community. We also work to develop the capacity of other local projects and community organisations, recognising that no organisation can solve problems in isolation.

Our approach always starts with supporting people to help themselves and with working to strengthen and build bonds and bridges across our community (what is usually called social capital). We also develop social enterprise projects wherever possible, recognising that enterprise is at the heart of strong, resilient communities.
