Peckham Settlement Mission

Our mission is: “To help those living in the vicinity of the Settlement, both as a community and as individuals, to develop their own potential, enrich their own lives, and solve their own problems. We do this by providing practical supportive services, advice, consultancy, leadership and a channel of communication to agencies and authorities in the area.” We are committed to working with people from all backgrounds and are particularly focused on ensuring that so-called hard-to-reach groups can access all of the opportunities we offer and services we provide.

The Peckham Settlement is a community anchor organisation, which is a term used to describe independent community-led organisations that are multi-purpose and provide holistic solutions to local problems and challenges, bringing out the best in people and agencies. Community anchors are there for the long term and are often the driving force in community renewal. We are affiliated to Bassac – the British Association of Settlements and Social Action Centres, which influences public policy and supports local community development organisations.
